Vintage 1960s STEIFF CITY MOUSE HOUSE & Accessories FAO Schwarz Used. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
Since 1880, STEIFF has been considered the premier manufacturer of luxury toys for children of all ages. Having created hundreds of different stuffed animals over the decades, Steiff concluded it was time to house them. The two Mouse Houses came about. First came the home for the "Country Mouse", shortly thereafter arrived a home for the "City Mouse".
Here is being offered an original City Mouse House. It remains a fine representation of the decor found in the early 1960's. After fifty years some may wish to redecorate it, but to lose the striped wallpaper, white pickled wood floor, pseudo Victorian metal furniture (one piece marked "Germany") and all the red velvet might be considered missing a most humorous point. Perhaps some decors never change.
Over the years smaller pieces have gone missing. A red paint has splashed on the facade and the yellow carry handle has frayed, but it is structurally sound and can be secured by its latch. Made to last by Steiff.
